Chapter 5: No Safe Haven: The World and the Jewish Question, 1933-1939 The Arab Revolt and the White Paper that took place between 1936 and 1939 is associated with the decline in immigration of the Jewish who wanted to settle on Arab land. The revolt was enhanced by the general strike that was held by the Arabs. This assertion is evidenced by the call for an Arab general strike against the Jewish immigration by Haj Amin, Gran Mufti of Jerusalem. Additionally, it is evident that 10,000 Arab fighters fought against Jewish settlement on their land (Goda, 2012).

The Evian Conference involved invitation of States to attend a conference that was aimed at coordinating orderly immigration from Germany to diverse parts of the universe. However, the purpose of the conference did not achieve its expectations because of ignoring the Jews. In tandem with this assertion, it is evident that 33 nations attended the conference but failed to achieve their goals because of their disregard of the Jews (Goda, 2012). Pope Pius XII destroyed the speech of Pope Pius XI so that he cannot have the chance of making the statement.

The act of Pope Pius was an indication of the hatred Pope Pius XII had towards the Jews. This claim is evidenced by information provided in this chapter that shows that Pope Pius destroyed copies of the Pope Pius XI so that Pope Pius XI cannot read it to the people (Goda, 2012). From the topic “Britain and the Kindertransport”, one can ascertain that extensive children transport from Germany to England led to approximately 10,000 Jewish children to be moved to England through employment of multiple trips.

This assertion is evidenced by the information provided on this topic that asserts that over 10,000 Jewish children below the age of 17 were relocated from Germany to England (Goda, 2012).ReferenceGoda, N. (2012). The Holocaust: Europe, the World, and the Jews 1918-1945. New York: Pearson.
