Your full September 16, Persuading the Employer for a Raise Employees, nowadays, are very much aware of their rights and the benefits they stand eligible for, and they know that benefits are crucial to give them some extra support in the tough financial times. ‘Employee benefits’ is a field that has developed drastically in the last two decades. Today, employers are spending thousands of compensation dollars to devise and implement benefit plans because they know that if labor morale is high, that means the company is going to enjoy improved performance, high productivity, and more positive reputation in the competitive market. Employee satisfaction is the key to success for such employers because they perceive employees as the second most important asset for the company, customers being the first. In this paper, I want to convince my employer why I want to demand a raise as my employee benefit, and how I am going to persuade him. The paper will be in first person (writer), with my employer being the addressee (reader). First of all, I would start by writing some words about the importance of employee development, and how it affects an employee’s performance. Employee development is a kind of strategy that employees and employers adopt to increase employees’ knowledge, talents, and expertise in particular areas they work in. It is important for an employer to create a balance between the employees’ individual career objectives and organizational milestones, in order to achieve successful employee development. Flourishing employee development programs and strategies guarantee improved employees’ performance, which leads to higher productivity and overall organizational success in the competitive market. I believe that employee development leads to employee motivation and job satisfaction. A growth-oriented workplace culture works on improving small occurrences so that overall growth is guaranteed. Growth relates to each and every employee at the workplace. The development in the quality of existing employees’ skills and the quantity of skilled workers leads to overall organizational growth. The most precious asset that a company may cherish is its employees, and it needs to be seriously concerned with all issues that may dissatisfy, frustrate or depress them. Without happy employees, no strategy is going to work, and no progress will be seen in the long run. Also, employee development programs result in job retention which is necessary to save organizational finances. Opening new opportunities for employees, so that they can develop expertise, makes them stay happy with their jobs. This can be done through training and learning sessions, along with providing such avenues to employees where they can practice new ideas. Sir, as an employee benefit, I want you to give me a raise in my salary, keeping in view all the hard work, devotion, and dedication, which I have been giving this company for many years. All other employees can surely testify this for me, that I have been a very punctual employee of the company, who has always submitted his project modules and organizational tasks well in time. I have rarely missed a deadline, and make sure that the work I deliver is free of errors. My customers have been very happy with me, and consider me a very professional worker. I also possess many such values that have made me a favorite among other employees for the company. For example, I have always treated them on a fair basis, and have tried to stay away from bias and favoritism. I am very objective about my ideas and feedbacks. I have been helping other employees in their work, and they look forward to me if they come across any difficult situation. I have also worked as a mediator in many of the organizational conflicts, like the one that happened recently when two of our valued employees got into a conflict about company’s rules and regulations. I have been trying to keep all conflicts away from work, so that the organization does not suffer. This way, I have proved to be a very faithful employee for the company, for the last five years. I may also mention here some benefits of monetary employee motivation. Monetary motivation is the most significant method of motivating an employee to perform better. Little monetary awards mean a lot, and that is why I have also requested for the raise. I may also mention here that I have always followed all rules and regulations of the company, and have always conformed to the company’s policies, which proves that I want to be a very obedient and responsible employee of the company. My last year’s performance chart shows that I have improved a lot in my communication and customer relations, since I have attended many training courses in verbal expertise that the company has been offering since last year. I have also attended many seminars on business communication, which has improved my relations- in and outside the company. My co-workers are happier with me now than they were ever before. This shows that I have the potential to improve, because I want to step ahead in my professional life. This also shows my dedication to work. Keeping my past work record in view, I want you to review my salary and grant me a raise. If you will take prompt action on my request, it will boost my energies and strength to perform more efficiently. This will make me feel as if I am a valued employee of the company, although you have never made me feel any less. However, since some other employees have got raises very recently, and since I think that my performance rate has been much better than theirs for last year, I want to make a request that you consider to review my salary package. A raise would mean a lot to me in this period of recession. I shall make sure that my performance increases with each passing day, as I already am a very hard worker, and like to produce good work within the set deadlines. Since I have always kept the organizational goals and objectives on top priority, this forces me to ask this favor from the company officials. I guarantee that you will not regret, and will be more proud of my performance in coming years. Cutting it short, I hope that you will consider my request, since you have always proved to be a very kind and considerate employer for all employees of the company. Everybody in the company praises you, and is inspired by your transformational leadership. I hope that you will not ignore the benefits of employee motivation and development, and will consider my request very soon. Although I guarantee that my performance will not lessen even if you decide otherwise; yet, I will be very happy if I get a raise in my salary, since it will help me combat my financial worries. This will also increase my job satisfaction, and will boost my energy to perform more effectively. This is also important to give some boost to my professional morale. Since, you have always considered whatever suggestions or recommendations I have made for the benefit of the company, I am sure that you will also consider this request of mine, which I have made for the first time, solely for myself. In return, I promise all my dedication, devotion, and determination to work with the company. Please consider my request, and turn me into the most loyal employee of the company. I hope I have convinced you regarding why I want a raise. I thank you for your time and patience, and am waiting for your kind action. Read More
