?Morning after Pills Research Journal The research in the use of contraceptive pills specifically the e-pills was done by the employment of quantitative and qualitative research methods. During the research, a number of people both male and female were contacted to find out the hazardous effects or the benefits of using the morning after pills. First, the research targeted 15,000 people. Out of this number, 7,000 were not married. 5,000 were married women while the rest of the 3000 were men who were randomly selected from the society. In collecting the data, there was the use of the questionnaires, interviews, and other data were also collected from the existing literature. The Emergency contraceptive pills are an overdose of the same hormone taken by a person after a sexual intercourse to prevent pregnancy. The higher dozes taken by a person may help a person by the preventing unwanted pregnancy. According to the research, the increasing population has threatened the world economy and to reduce the birth rate which has constantly been on the rise, doctors and researcher have opted to come up with the noblest way of tackling this malady. The use of the morning after pills has been considered to be one of the most effective ways of tackling this problem. Morning after pills has brought up different thoughts as to its effects in an individual’s life and to the society. Questionnaires were also administered to a group of doctors to find their views on this topic. It was apparent that doctors have heard different views on the same subject and the society has heard a different say. Some doctors hold that the use of emergency pills has the potential of affecting a woman’s womb thus affecting the woman from giving birth. These pills can also result to a number of health complications as excessive or regular use of the contraceptive can cause cancer of the womb. This beats the logics of its usage. When a drug can cause such a deadly disease to an individual, then the whole concept of using them becomes irrelevant to the human health. The proponents of these drugs whoever hold that the usage of morning after pills if used appropriately cannot cause any harm to the woman. According to the Center for Health Promotion and Education (U.S.) the proper description of the usage of the morning contraceptives is described as its usage once in a menstrual cycle. This leaves one with no option but either not to engage in unprotected sexual intercourse or to stay without sexual intercourse up to the following menstrual circle (1983). This is therefore ranks to be a method which inconvenience an individual. Should one be exposed to its usage regularly then one is at risk of losing their health to this drug usage. Discussion of the Research Journal The society has criticized the usage of morning after pills from different angles. From the religious point of view, the usage of this morning after pills to terminate pregnancy is seen as an evil act that should not be practiced. Termination of pregnancy is seen as an actual termination of life which is against the societal norms. Life is in this context is seen as holy and that no human being has the authority to interfere with any form of human life. This is an immoral act and it is unacceptable before the deity and before man. Also, the use of contraceptives is seen as a way through which the society is encouraged to be immoral. Immorality is not good for the functionality of the society as it can cause sexually transmitted diseases. This is harmful to human population as one can transmit venereal diseases to people with only the aim of avoiding pregnancy. The society dictates that one has to be morally right and once one is pregnant, they should have the audacity of carrying their pregnancy to deliver but terminating the same pregnancy is illogical. From both the doctors and the societal point of view, the use of the emergency contraceptive peal proves to be ineffective above other family planning methods. If these drugs can cause harmful complications to human health then one would better opt for other means and that which the society does not approve is also not good for an individual as it may make one an alien to the society where one belong. Emergency pills are controversial and it is heavily linked to health. Researcher has found out that, with the increasing population comes with an increase of teenage pregnancy. Teenagers often give birth at a higher rate thus interfering with the life program of these teenage mothers. For instance, there is a rising number of school dropout attributed to early pregnancies. Such early pregnancies are always unplanned for thus giving the young people challenge of child careering. Teenagers have no sufficient income to take care of their children. They thus throw the burden of raising their children to their parents. Some of these children drop out of school to look for employment to raise their children. This impacts negatively on the economy as people who ought to be productive for the future stability of the economy get stuck to the responsibility that they are not ready for and neither mature to handle. However, researchers have proven that the morning contraceptive pills since its inception has greatly led to the reduction of teenage pregnancy thus significantly reducing the number of school drop outs in the world. Emergency contraceptive pills by extension have enabled people to plan for their families in case one has had unprotected sex without prior family planning. Its use majorly applies in situation of emergency where other pills may not be used. Other family planning peals are useful in preventing conceptions and they cannot be effective after one has conceived. This makes the e-pills effective in a case of an emergency. On the other hand, the use of morning contraceptive pills have reduced the use of other contraceptives which may be effective that its use. Further, if not used according to the prescription of a doctor, it can be harmful to young mothers. However, its use has helped to eliminate a problem that was virally rising thus threatening the economy of the world. Accidental pregnancies are now well taken care of in women. Young mother and any woman who would wish to use the morning after pills should take proper instructions as it its use. If one would wish to have regular sexual intercourse then one would better opt for other family planning methods instead of constant exposure to the morning after pills which may cause harm to ones womb or general health. Because of its availability and instant effect, people have opted for it than other family planning methods. This has made doctors and even the society to oppose its usage further, some doctors argue that the usage of the contraceptive pills encourages the spread of HIV/AIDS as people especially women only care about pregnancy and once they have ways of preventing the pregnancy, they do not mind of other sexual consequences. This further put the society and individuals at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS which is also a threat to human health (Knoke, 1989). Medical practitioners: doctors have also brought to peoples’ attention the effects of these drugs. A section of doctors hold that when one follows the medical prescription when taking these drugs, one will not be affected with this drug. However, they (doctors) also have a common opinion that regular use of the drug may cause various complications to the user. The main social group affected by the usage of morning after pills are women and especially young women (Beegle, 1995). Women who are married who have sexual intercourse regularly often do not use morning after pills; they opt for other family planning measure like the use of implants and the rest. Those who are greatly affected by the usage of morning after pills are women. Most often they are women who are not married who do not have regular sexual intercourse. Studies have shown that during the holydays when students are on their long vacation, the usage of the morning after pills increases worldwide. This is to say that most of the people who use the pills are the unmarried and the school going women. It may seem that the only people who are affected by the use of family planning affect only women, but men are also affected to some extent though partially. When a woman does not used the pills and unplanned pregnancy is come by, there is a psychological effect on the man responsible for the pregnancy. This may expose a man to the responsibility of taking care of the baby. This may be a responsibility that one was not ready for thus interring with ones plan in life. A man may also be interested in preventing the pregnancy only without caring of the health of the woman. This can easily result in the contraction of diseases to a man. The effect of sexual intercourse is not limited to the pregnancy but it extends to the spread of diseases some of which are dangerous to one’s life (Omari, 1989). Even though men are affected by the use of morning after pills, women remain to be the main culprits because they suffer the effects of the drugs directly. This disadvantage woman, women therefore ought to know the best birth control methods that may not be harmful to their health. Men on the other hand also have to know that they have a responsibility towards protecting women whom they are intimate with. This consciousness would help in reducing the number of health issues related to sexual intercourse and the adverse effects of the morning contraceptive pills. The main issues of concern which are related to this birth control method are the behaviors; that is the psychic behavior that young people are exposed to because of their build confidence and the reduced fear of pregnancy. Today, the fear of getting pregnant has reduced and thus people engage in sexual intercourse irresponsibly. It is also important to discuss other family planning methods as it can help one find other best alternative family planning methods other than the morning after pills which affect the life of an individual who is prone to its regular usage. Researchers on the other hand do not approve of the usage of this birth control method. They argue that though it is an effective means of family planning, people have abused it by using it regularly thus causing many health complications. Research Evaluation The sources used to verify the contents of this paper are of high quality and their credibility is unquestionable. Beegle’s work offers various means of family planning which can save regular users of morning after pills the agony that comes with its usage. The research done by the Centre for Health Promotion and Education also gives different views and reaction of the society towards the issues of family planning especially in Africa. Knoke on the other hand give the economic impact of family planning, and finally, Omari gives variety of the social effects and the behavioral effects of E-pills in the society. These sources together with the interviews that were done to find out the effects of morning after pills are of importance to this study. All these sources are valid; however, doing a personal research enables one to verify other peoples’ claims thus giving one the feel of what other people have. Conclusion Birth control is an important practice that cannot be ignored in any way lets the world’s population outgrows the economic stamina. There are various birth control methods but the investigation of the most prevalent one is the use of morning after pills. Morning after pills is effective because they help in controlling pregnancy after the sexual intercourse. This make preferable to most people who are not in any other birth control. However, as revealed by the research, it is not recommendable for regular use since it has side effects which are hazardous to a woman’s health. Researchers have brought their concerns and they have proven that improper usage of morning after pills can cause bareness. They (doctors and researchers) have also offered various birth control methods that are helpful that the use of the morning after pills. These finding are in harmony with various researches and findings that have been done by various credible individuals. Bibliography Beegle, K. (1995).
