Personal ment Developing and gaining learning experiences from a graduate program in nursing may be the major aspects of the nursing profession. The graduate program may work toward increasing the breadth and depth of my nursing career. It is vital to have a much more solid base on which the theories developed in the field are laid on in order to have confidence and self-belief when handling and dealing with patients. This program might also guide me in enhancing and expanding my competence, which might assist me in different areas of specialization throughout my career.

These areas might include healthcare system administration or even the advanced nursing practices that are available in the healthcare environment. A graduate program might also allow me to grow and gain the respect that most nurses should be accorded (Keating 54). It is my belief that nurses in positions that require a more managerial approach must have at least a master’s degree. Leadership positions in the healthcare environment require fast thinkers who are capable of making life-changing decisions in split seconds.

It is a result of this thinking that a nurse who is put in such a position must have the commanding presence of a master’s degree. This may make it possible for people to recognize and respect such a nurse (Keating 63). The master’s degree may assist the nurse to have the necessary and relevant experience to deal with a large number of nurses under their care, which might also work to the healthcare facility’s advantage. This is in terms of patient care and system administration. The selection of an MSN degree came as a result of my passion for the nursing vocation.

An MBA or a master’s degree in education can be considered ideal, but I was not settling for anything less than what my heart was set on, and an MSN was the only way to get what I wanted. An MSN would allow me to think critically, help me promote a culture of wellness in the society, and ensure collaborative efforts work toward raising the healthcare environment’s overall standing (Keating 72). It is through the MSN that I may be capable of realizing and attaining my maximum potential, which may guide me in fostering creativity, originality, and even intellectual analysis in and around the workplace.

An MSN would ensure that, as an individual, I would be capable of bringing out my caring and compassionate nature when catering to the needs of other people. A graduate degree, in my opinion, would only serve to increase the confidence and self-belief I have in myself and my skills. In the healthcare environment, one has to have confidence in order to make it through and become a well respected, well recognized nurse (Keating 81). A degree may boost the morale of any individual because they may stand in the presence of other nurses, and actually have an opinion in the way things are done in the organization.

This, in turn, ultimately affects my general performance when it comes to handling patients and fellow healthcare professionals. A graduate degree may change the way I might view different scenarios. Different situations come with different reactions. Critical thinking might assist me in analyzing things from all angles and find a solution that works both for me and people in my care. In 1-3 years after the completion of this program, I hope to be an advanced nurse practitioner. The reason I hope to move in such a direction is because; as an APN, I would be in a position to deal with countless patients and deal with all types of healthcare delivery systems.

The different areas of specialization may make it easier for me to be diverse and versatile in the healthcare field (Keating 96), which might assist me during the course of my career.
