Research on Microsoft Corporation Abstract A company is a business entity. This includes a collection of personnel or other companies who form a set that contribute capital and do manage the entire structure of the group. This paper is going to evaluate Microsoft Corporation. Research on Microsoft Corporation Introduction Microsoft Corporation is an international business that deals with the manufacturing and licensing of products, software developments and also supports an extensive range of products that are mostly related to computers. Bill gates and Paul Allen are the founders of Microsoft which was on April 4, 1975 (Claudius, 2007). 1. The company you would like to work for and why you picked that particular company. I would like to work for Microsoft Corporation and also to be allied to it, because of the outstanding reputation that it portrays to the society. Microsoft Corporation has been ranked as one of the top companies in terms of its manufacture of electronics and the top company, which develops softwares. Microsoft offers software developers a lot of personal free will over working environment where the individuals get to order their personal materials and modify their offices as they desire. 2. The mission and values espoused by your organization? Microsoft Corporation is responsible for its commitments, its shareholders and human resources. It also holds great enthusiasm for its clients, the associates that work with them and inventions of the latest technology. The company is open and respectful with other companies, and it is dedicated in making them better. It does share its information that is needful to improve the society rather than only make profit for its benefit. It takes on challenges and drives them to the end to improve the lives of people by coming up with good, usable products (Claudius, 2002). 3. The location of corporate headquarters as well as locations that attract you. The main headquarters of Microsoft Corporation is located in Redmond, Washington in the United States. It also operates in different other countries, which can be more than 100 in number according to the recent case study conducted by the company itself. The region that attracts me is Chaoyang Beijing China. 4. The industry of your company and their performance within the industry. This company deals with information and technology. It mostly concentrates in the development of different softwares for desktop and servers, and manufacturing of electronic devices. They hold the majority of consumers in the world in terms of their good products and services from their qualified personnel. They are coming up with new models and systems that give them an edge over other IT companies. Furthermore, they are improving their versions of the products that they had manufactures previously to meet with the current emerging demands of the consumers (Claudius, 2007). 5. Two pros and two cons of your company – explain in details Microsoft Corporation is a vast, influential company. It has great impact with the projects that the qualified personal are working on, which end up being used by millions of consumers in across the globe. Microsoft is also dealing with IT which is the next big thing in the society. Work in various sectors of most of the other companies is now done easily, effectively and efficiently by the use of computers. Microsoft only wants to dominate the market alone with its products. It also does not allow for the franchising of its products by other business groups or individual. 6. Is your company socially responsible-explain in details. Microsoft Corporation gives back to the society through running non-profitable organizations which are set up in third world countries. These organizations help in charitable giving to the poor people in terms of basic needs. The Corporation also offers free products to schools and institutions like computers and educational softwares that aid in improving the educational sector of the society in these underdeveloped nations. It also focuses in giving software training, business chances and technological advancements to different places of their world and society that may not be able to enjoy such opportunities. 7. How does the company market its job opportunities? Microsoft does advertise its job opportunities through the internet. It sets up websites that clearly indicates the open chances that are available within the company. These websites can be accessed by anyone around the world, and they can be able to upload their details to be reviewed if they qualify. They also have their own established magazines in which they indicated details that are useful to the community and they can also inform the public of the open positions with their company. The media also takes an important place in advertising the job opportunities. 8. Find a job description and/or career program of interest within this company and summarize. Programmer is one interesting job due to its flexibility within the IT industry, and it has a wide area of work opportunities within Microsoft Corporation. A programmer is basically the person who develops a computer program or software that is used to run a machine or a computer. Within the Microsoft corporation I can be able to understand the already made softwares like the Microsoft Windows, windows vista, windows mobile, windows 7,online services - internet explorer, web browsers and develop other softwares or improve on the already developed ones. 9. How will you prepare for pursuing this particular position during your time at the Ohio state university? I will prepare by taking extra classes in programming so as to perfect my programming skills. This can also be backed up my attending seminars and workshops that educate on programming. I can also develop a network with the students learning programming in Ohio state university and the teaching staff. Finally, I can read books and articles related to programming and do some practice with my personal computer of how to develop programs. Conclusion Microsoft Corporation is a business company that has widely grown over the years, and it has stand out with good missions and values that have helped the society in different ways. I believe that if I work with the qualified personnel within the company I shall improve greatly in my programming skills, and we shall all work together to develop products that will be useful to the consumers.
